Trust & safety

Vetted at the door. Clear the whole way through.

Four questions people ask before they let a contractor in the house, and the straight answers.

1

Who is this contractor?

Before a contractor can quote on evengate., we check their contractor license, their general liability insurance at the limits the Pro Agreement requires, and a background check on the owner. Technicians on a contractor's team have their own background check as well. Before work begins, ask your contractor to confirm their license and insurance are still current.

2

Is the price real?

Quotes come in blind. No contractor sees another’s price, so the number you get is their real price, not an opening offer. You choose; nobody is assigned to you.

3

When do I pay, and what if it’s not right?

A card is authorized when you accept a quote, not charged. A bank is linked and nothing is taken. Texts go through a number we provide, so your own number stays private.

When the work is done, the contractor enters the final amount and you have 24 hours to confirm it. If you do nothing, it goes through at the end of that window so your contractor is paid on time. If something isn’t right, raise it in that window: the payment waits and your contractor gets the first chance to fix it. A final amount above the price you accepted is never paid until you approve it.

4

Who pays if something goes wrong?

The contractor’s commercial general liability insurance is the main protection if property is damaged or someone is hurt during the work. The Pro Agreement requires it at $1M per occurrence and $2M aggregate. evengate. is not an insurer and does not replace that coverage.

If our review confirms violence, threats, harassment or sexual misconduct, theft, fraud, impaired or unsafe work, a serious safety or code violation, repeatedly ignoring a homeowner's correction requests after a warning, or lying about a license, insurance or identity, the contractor is suspended at once and can be removed for good.
